Dear citizens of Székesfehérvár and music lovers related to Székesfehérvár,  This autumn, the Székesfehérvár City Beautification and Protection Committee proposes to install an artistic commemorative plaque  on the Jókai Street facade of the Hiemer block, on the wall of the former Music School, in honour of Ferenc Somorjai (1923-2009)  music teacher, conductor, and central figure of the music scene in Székesfehérvár, on occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth.  Last year, as a result of our initiation, a gravestone was installed at our teacher’s burial place in Hosszú Cemetery, Palotai Street by  public subscription. Similarly, we now invite music lovers of Székesfehérvár and persons related to Székesfehérvár to make their  donations. We are planning to organise a memorial concert at Barátok Church (Városház Square) on 15th October, the International White Cane  Safety Day, near the date of the birthday, with the collaboration of the musician Ferenc Somorjai’s followers and friends. Along with  highly acknowledged musicians and singers, Primavera Choir will be performing conducted by Ottilia Horányi. The Székesfehérvár City Beautification and Protection Committee thanks you in advance for your help.  Their appeal is to be found here in Hungarian.
